Manchester United fires Jose Mourinho

Manchester United announces that manager Jose Mourinho has left the club with immediate effect.

This comes moment after Manchester United lost to Liverpool at the weekend which put them 19 points the first place and 11 points below the top 4. Mourinho has been subjected to criticism this season having led the club to worst ever start to the season since 1990.

The club in a statement thanked Mourinho for his work at the club and wished him the best in his future endeavours. "The club would like to thank Jose for his work during his time at Manchester United and to wish him success in the future.

"A new caretaker manager will be appointed until the end of the current season, while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a new, full-time manager."

The Portuguese tactician had after their lost to Liverpool insisted that he had not lost the dressing room.
