OAU Commences Examination Amidst Workers Strike

The Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife has commenced its second semester examinations for the 2016/17 academic session on Monday amidst workers strike.
In the early hours of Monday, 29th of January, the scheduled date for the commencement of the examination, students of the university started their examination with special elective courses SEE002, SEG002, SEA002 and SEL002.
Some of the students of the university who spoke with our expressed their satisfaction over the commencement of the examination amidst the strike.
"As at last week, many of us were still contemplating whether the exam will hold or not but kudos to both non academic staff for reaching a sensible conclusion. I wrote one of my cure courses, YOR208 this morning", Shurry Aliyu, a student of department of Linguistics said.
Another student, Moruf Adewole said: "since there is electricity in halls of residence and some part of academics area, the best position is to write examination and graduate of the system. We have started and I don't smell any disruption".
Also, speaking with our correspondent, a senior staff of Non Academic Staff Union who identified himself as Mr. Kolade said the non teaching staff strike will not affect the examination.
"We have reached concessions with University management, the students are our children. We are not fighting with them but with Federal Government. The strike is still on but students will complete their examination"
The Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, resumed back from 'end of the year break' caused by non teaching staff strike on January, 2nd.
According to the details on the university website, the examination is expected to end on February, 16th
