"I Was Admitted For Law but Opted Out for Theatre" - Veteran Actor Shares Experience With OAU Final Year Students

Mr. Yemi Solade, a nollywood veteran actor who graduated from University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University said he was admitted for Law but opted out for theatre.
He disclosed this during a lecture on: "The future CEO(s); celebrating the 2016/17 graduating set" in Oduduwa Hall of Obafemi Awolowo University on the 7th of March 2017.
Mr. Yemi Solade who has been in the entertainment industry for the past 40 years encouraged the final year students to know their strength and focus on their focus to achieve greatness in life. He also used himself as example as he advised them to work towards becoming CEO.
The veteran actor who was a disco dancer in his early age and graduate of department of Dramatic Arts, OAU was quoted saying "students should educate their minds before venturing and not be a stereotype person. I didn't believe in white collar job, you need to team up and become your own industry. I was not for Law but opted for theatre and thank God today, I was not stubborn in vain", he said.
Mr Solade buttressed that life is beyond 1st class and encouraged the final year students to develop their potential as individual. "I'm an advocate of entertainer who love education because education is fundamental. Nobody in my family was an actor, I discovered myself that God called me to be an actor."
He stated that the outside world is a different ball game so the students should be known, truth to themselves, be confident and be very prayerful.
Meanwhile, the final year students of Obafemi Awolowo University are expected to finish their last examination on or before 7th of April, 2017.
