Gov. Aregbesola Urges Political Scientists to Take Assertive Positions on Issues of National Interest

The state governor of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has urged political scientists to take assertive positions on issues of National interest as means of contributing to national development.
Ogbeni Aregbesola disclosed this during the 1st annual conference of Nigeria Political Science Association, South West zone which held at the Oduduwa Hall of Obafemi Awolowo University Ile Ife on 8th of March, 2017 on the topic: "Democracy, Nation Building and and National Development in Nigeria"
The governor who was sworn in as governor on 27 November 2010 urged Nigerian political scientists to be more focused as politics is a primal activity that must be practised for the development and progress of Nigeria at large.
He further buttressed that democracy is best form of government that can give leaders chance to serve us better. The governor quoted Winston Churchill that "Democracy is the worst form of government, though better than the rest".
Aregbesola says "politics is central to everybody who dwells in a community. Political scientists need to make their voices laud and clear as far their positions are concern regarding national issues", he added.
He further enjoin youths to interact with elders and political conscious to see to the development of the country.
The governor who has been faced with several criticism on difficulties to pay salary of the workers disclosed that leaders can only be effective and pay salaries when the economy of the state is buoyant.
Meanwhile, Ogbeni Aregbesola tenure as governor of the state shall come to end in 2018.
