OAU: DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTING PRESIDENT IMPEACHED BY STUDENTS REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL OVER N5,000 FRAUD

THE President of Nigerian Universities of Accounting Students Association, Obafemi Awolowo University Chapter, NUASA OAU, Mr. John Akpan has been impeached by the Students Representative Council of the Association on Friday, 13th of January 2017 over N5000 fraud.

The impeachment took place at the 5th parliamentary sitting of SRC which held in ICAN Lecture theatre of the institution. The report of the  investigating committee led by Ajilore Ayo that was constituted in the 4th parliamentary to look into the matter confirmed that the President had admitted that only N10,000 was paid at the entrance when the associated visited a zoo as against the N15, 000 the President insisted at the 4th parliamentary sitting.

After submission and deliberations in the sitting, the Speaker of the Association, Ajayi Emmanuel announced the impeachment of the President and ordered that he should be relieved of duties.

The impeached President who spoke with Journalists was quoted saying "l am not surprised at the decisions made, it is just the decision of the speaker, l am not guilty of fraud, we shall fight against this, we would use students of the department, Lecturers and HOD to fight against the decision. The Speaker don't just like me" he said.

Meanwhile, the Speaker was also quoted saying "We are representatives of Accounting students, they have given us their mandates for integrity and justice, the impeachment cannot be reversed"
