FARCE JUBILATION OF INDEPENDENCE 🇳🇬 : DETERIORATION OF ITS DIVIDENDS
by G-sam........✍
While I was still very young, I mean a very young lad; a young boy that loved to evaluate his age alongside his achievement, my mom would say, "Samuel, have you ever thought of the reason why I have never take you on a fun trip to celebrate and rejoice about my increase in age?" I had no answer than to soliloquize. The only thought that made its way to my mind was maybe the woman was financially incapacitated to the extent of not having cash to let us have fun in the name of celebrating birthdays but she changed my assumption the very first day she took me to the apex restaurant in our community as at then.
She told me to place my order but as a young boy that thought his mother was not financially buoyant,I called the waiter and I ordered food of just #400 even when I knew it could not satisfy me. The waiter was very close to where we were sitting, I was excited just because I was on an 'outing' with my sweet mother not mainly because of the sweetness of the food I was about to consume. I got shocked when I saw my dad; an extremely handsome young man coming towards our direction, Mom! I exclaimed, "where is my Dad coming from and even, where is he heading to?" Was the second reaction from me. As if that was not enough, my dad shouted (you know how yoruba men use to shout when it comes to calling a Yoruba name for an important thing) "Toluwalope, kindly come with the cake (a six steps cake)". I was dumbfounded, the cake with the caption "HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SAMUEL". I knew it very much that I am the only Samuel in the nuclear family but at the same time thinking of who owns the cake. The day was full of celebration and lessons as we were taught history by the head of the family (Dad). Unforgettable day! My parents sat me and told me how stressful it took them to organize such an amazing event. But believe me, that did not just come as a birthday gift but also as a jubilation of the new achievement that is worth evaluating with my age. Sincerely speaking, that was because I bagged a scholarship that's beyond my chronological age as at that time.
However, truth be told, it's high time for Nigerians to view independent day with a new lens. October 1 should be a day for Nigerians to think, reflect and reason well including the government and the general populace. When is Nigeria changing her global posture among comity of developed blocs? A question that has a long term pragmatic justification.
Nigeria, achieve than your age as the story of the young boy at the genesis of this article before the massive celebration of Independence.
We are suffering mainly because of poor leadership over the years until now that our foreseen messiah has metamorphosed into a dream sucker.
Poor leadership: Leadership deficit in Nigeria is the root of the paradox of poverty in the midst of plenty~ Chief Afe Babalola (SAN).
Furthermore, we cannot but celebrate the fact that we have good numbers of natural resources, yet, we are meritoriously honoured with the award of Poverty Capital of the world. The giant of Africa now the giant of poverty. What a pity!
Nigeria @ 59 : a day to rejoice?
Believe me, even at the political crusade of CHANGE, change is far-fetched. Presently at the pinnacle of NEXT LEVEL, Nigeria is in a state of no level probably one of the reason why an intellectual prophet said "Nigeria is abysmally frustrating and unbelievably exciting" ~ Chinua Achebe 1967. The excitement part is only imagination but the frustration is countless and real.
WE DO NOT NEED MORE HEADLINE OF DISAPPOINTMENT. Nigeria is dying, we need L I F El.
L - Leadership and governance

Nigeria; a country on the journey to the promised Land only if the necessary steps are taken which has been our consistent malady of governance. Don't let us forget the statement of the incumbent American president against Africa:
"If after 50 years of Independence you have not built the necessary infrastructure for your people, are you humans"?
If you sit on gold, diamond, oil, manganese, uranium and your people don't have food, are you humans?
If you stay in power, you buy weapons from strangers to kill your own citizens, are you humans?
If your only Social project is to stay in power for life, are you being humans?
If you despise and shoot your own citizens like game, who will respect them?
"If you take all resources meant for the development of your country for personal property, are you humans?
If you leave your country health care unattended and treat yourself abroad, are you humans?
"Until your leaders think less of themselves and more about your people. You're not humans but animals" - Donald Trump to Africans and most especially to the giant of Africa: Nigeria.

Arise, O Compatriot,
Nigeria's call obey,
To serve our fatherland,
With love and strength and faith,
The labour of our heroes past
Shall never be in vain,
To serve with heart and might,
One nation bound in freedom,
Peace and unity.
Arise, O Compatriot,
Nigeria's call obey,
To serve our fatherland,
With love and strength and faith,
The labour of our heroes past
Shall never be in vain,
To serve with heart and might,
One nation bound in freedom,
Peace and unity.
O God of creation,
Direct our noble cause,
Guide our leaders right,
Help our youth the truth to know,
In love and honestly to grow,
And live in just and truth,
Great lofty height attain,
To build the nation where peace and
Justice shall reign.
