Confusion Trails OAU Students Resumption

With few days left to the proposed resumption date of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, the the university authority has settled that resumption holds as prior booked in spite of the reliable disturbance by the Non Academic Staff Union, NASU, Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities SSANU, and National Association of Academic Technologists, NAAT over the ratio of academic allowance by the Federal government.
Talking with our correspondent , the Public Relations Officer of OAU, Abiodun Olanrewaju expressed that there is no adjustment in resumption date. He additionally included that academic exercises will continue on 3rd of January for the completion of second semester of 2016/2017 session.
Responding to question asked by journalist , the Dean of Student Affairs, Isiaka Aransi certified that the resumption date stays 2nd January and cannot be changed.
"The end of the year break has been terminated, students should resume",he additionally included.
At the point when asked with reference to whether the university has effectively figured out how to solve the problem of Non Academic Staff, Aransi said the students should leave that for the administration to deal with.
Meanwhile, while talking with OAU NASU Chairman, Wole Odewunmi said the unions do not perceive the resumption date. In his words: "we were not included when students were given end of the year break, we don't know anything about the resumption ".
"The indefinite strike still continues, so we can't work except order from national bodies with from Abuja", he expressed.
It will be recalled that the Senate of OAU proclaimed an " End Of The Year Break" to students on December 5, 2017 because of the unpalatable events occasioned by the infefinite strike activity of the Obafemi Awolowo University branch of the Non - Academic Staff, which involves Non Academic Staff Union (NASU), Senior Staff Association of Nigeria University (SSANU) and National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), against the Federal government Government over the payment of Earned allowances to all the staff unions in Nigerian Universities.
Thus, the students are relied upon to resume on Tuesday, 2nd January, while lectures begin on Wednesday, 3rd January, 2018 to an unpalatable environment which initially led to the school shut down.
