OAU: "BIAFRA WAR WAS JUSTIFIABLE", SAYS SAM OMATSEYE DURING NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF STUDENTS OF ENGLISH AND LITERARY STUDIES SYMPOSIUM
THE Head, Board of Editors of The Nation Newspaper, Mr. Sam Omatseye has said that Biafra war was a justifiable.
The renowed Journalist disclosed this during the symposium organized by the National Association of Students of English and Literary Studies on Obafemi Awolowo University Campus (NASELOAU) titled: LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION: PROSPECTS FOR STUDENTS OF ENGLISH AND LITERATURE on the 12th of January, 2017.
The alumnus of department of history says "Biafra war was a a justifiable war but Ojukwu was tactless with it" he said
He also said Buhari has not been given fair hearing to those agitating for the cause and he is only a democrat when matter favours him.
Sam Omatseye whose book was reviewed and read at the symposium advised students not to allow people define their destiny and encouraged them to use their pen to shape the world.
The programme also witnessed Dean of Faculty of Arts, Prof. Gbemisola Adeoti who was quoted saying "l am glad that Mr. Sam Omatseye is back home". Also, the HOD, Department of English, Prof. Okunoye says "l was glad when the association told me Mr. Sam Omatseye will be coming. I told them we are in for the programme. We are happy to have him" he said.
The President of the Association, Afeez Gbadamosi (Afiz GBA) says "we are happy to achieve this and we promise to keep our department alive with educative programmes academically, morally, socially and politically" he said.
Also, poems were rendered by students and also performance by the department drama troupe
