EDUCATION NOW A THING OF PAST AS MASSES FACE HARDSHIP IN THE PRESENT STATE OF THE NATION
Here in Lesotho, we have two problems - Rats and the Government - Lesotho
Chief
Today was a great day as mankind continue to witness what the economist in this nation call ECONOMIC DOWNTURN, yet I saw a long queue in front of a commercial bank ATM in Ibadan as early as 7:30am. That aside, while I entered to make deposit then I saw something that amaze me, it's not an old friend standing neither is it beauty of a damsel radiating all over the banking all, it was a young primary school pupil who is around 6-8years of age trying to make deposit. I had decided to start cursing the parent that sent such a small boy to a bank alas, I heard someone saying he wants to pay for Ajimobi fee #1,500, a public school pupil for God sake.
However, I decided to get a glimpse of what the money is all about and why such fee is introduced to public schools, then I opted to correlate it with what Chief Obafemi Jeremiah Awolowo termed free and qualitative education. It's now on the history book that public schools students were brilliant and the children of peasant farmer or road side trader can afford to go school to acquire knowledge and get good certificate. Gone are those days when there were enough teachers, enough textbook, enough notebook and chairs & tables for public school students.
The most appalling of it is that our present crop of leaders went through the system, they got scholarships, bursary, and fully equipped laboratories, they fail to realize that this dropouts who can't afford qualitative education will come back to hunt the ones they're pampering, yet the continue to suck the economic vitality out of the people.
Now a days, education is now tending towards a particular stage where it's only the Vampires who suck the treasury of state and the capitalist that can afford to send their children to school. Public education is now a thing of the past and the masses continue to face hardship in this present state of the nation.
Tertiary education is not left out, as the wind now blows to the side of the wealthy people, social class has already created the gap among everyone. Fake and deceptive change took it time and stroll to the centre stage to take over Nigeria. Nigerians should get voters card and stop been Facebook or Twitter supporter. My take.
