Hon Adewale: Tinubu, Aregbesola Meet With NLC
Members In Abuja
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed, national
leader of the All Progressives
Congress, took the unusual step
Friday of intervening in the Nigeria
Labour Congress protest by
visiting the NLC leaders right in
their Labour House in Abuja, to
appeal for an end to the strike.
Tinubu, accompanied by some
officials of the APC and Governor
Rauf Aregbesola, said he came on
behalf of his party, the Buhari
government to appeal to the
labour leaders to end the strike
and return to the negotiating
table.
In a move designed clearly to
massage the ego of the labour
leaders, since the strike was
largely ignored in many parts of
Nigeria, Tinubu urged Labour to
employ anger management in
resolving the disagreement over
the fuel price increase.
Tinubu explained the reason for
the fuel price increase and said it
was done in the best interest of
Nigeria as it would allow investors
to come into Nigeria to build
refineries.
He contrasted the policy to the
step taken by former President
Goodluck Jonathan in 2012, when
he set up SURE-P in 2012. The
APC leader said what was sure of
the SURE-P was corruption.
He said the Buhari administration
would not follow the same path.
He urged labour leaders to repose
trust in the Buhari administration
as it is one of integrity and
honesty.
“This President is genuine. This
decision was the only one left.
Buhari has integrity and a
character that is reliable”, Tinubu
said.
Speaking further,he said....
“I cannot say we work from a
distant, I cannot say I was not a
part of what is happening today. I
can only say I noticed the
communication gap".
"I cannot say you are the enemies
of progress of the country, today
we came in to appeal to you, and
go back to history, we worked real
hard to bringing Nigeria on a
progressive path".
“For me progressive governance is
all we care about.
“Mr. President, the former
president, our senators are here
only to make clear that you are
not the enemy and you will never
be the enemy of what is
progressive".
“Why should we continue,
problems after problem, conflict
after conflict?”
“Without your support, without
your participate we would not have
won this election".
In a response, Ayuba thanked
Tinubu for his intervention and
promised to take the appeal to the
affiliates of the NLC. He said the
NLC was not opposed to
negotiation with government.
My take:
Is tinubu a government official?
Where is the minister of labor and
productivity, where is the minister
of petroleum? What sort of proxy
governance is this?
The greatest problem Africa has is
leadership and followership
problem, People lead any how
without accountability and sense
of responsibility and people follow
any how without directon. I ask, in
what capacity is tinubu meeting
with the NLC? As the President or
minister of labor or minister of
petroleum, or what official position is he holding to meeting with NLC
Hon.Adewale
Comrade Seun Thomas: He doesn't have to be a govt official. Any well meaning citizen can help calm situations if he will be granted audience. The NLC graciously granted him audience. Obasanjo was not a government official when he tried to mediate in the boko haram issue during the last government. Neither was rtd.general Abbey during the Niger delta situation in yaradua's tenure
If they would grant me audience, i would talk to them
Spirit Drunk: God bless Hon. Adewale...What is Tinubu's concern o?...my thought too
They sha like bringing PARTY things into things...NOTICE ME!
Comrade Seun Thomas: Ah! Tinubu get concern o! All of us get concern.
If the pdp or kowa guys want, they can also try to settle issues for us.
You don't have to be a govt official to contribute to the country
Spirit Drunk: Am not convinced it's not Party leader Swag Jare...Godfather of APC wants to meet you
Comrade Seun Thomas: Lol.. jagaban abi?
Spirit Drunk: Yes o...Jagaban😂
Comrade Socrates: And those well meaning Nigerians could not say anything about the recently approved purchase of 360 Peugeot 508 cars by our legislators inspite of the seemingly dead economy?
And they claimed the country is broke.... Nigerians! Wake up!!
Comrade Seun Thomas: I think you should wake up. I have not seen a Labour organized protest for minimum wage or asking senators to slash their salaries. This country is not perfect, neither is her people. Any body or group can try to intervene in whatever situation it chooses, in a bid to bring calm
Hon Adewale: It's wrong
Comrade Seun Thomas: Let the pdp do it, let kowa do it, let apc do it, let CAN do it, let oau students do it. It is our country. It doesn't belong to government officials alone
Hon Adewale: Sincerely speaking Tinubu is a leader of a party nt government official, He said unbehave of Federal government and our party. Morally and mentally it's wrong wen we ave a working govt in America ave u since any of their party leader taking up govt official responsibility
Spirit Drunk: Oluwaseun...I hear you
Comrade Seun Thomas: Are u guys saying that all other groups or bodies can intervene except political parties?
Comerade Emeka: Jagaban should know the difference between party affairs and labour affairs
Comrade Seun Thomas: During the last pdp tenure, i didn't hear anybody complaining that obj was trying to settle boko haram issues
Spirit Drunk: Obj was wrong too...Baba Isale PDP
Comrade Emeka: Obasanjo is a former head of state. A former head of state can mediate on state issues. He's an adviser for life to the incumbent President including Buhari himself. Don't forget Buhari sent him to some countries on electoral assignment too. I can't recall the last time Jagaban ruled Nigeria
Spirit Drunk: They are trying to protect party ni Jare baba oko mi, dnt gt it twisted
Hon Adewale: Thank you
Comrade Seun Thomas: There is not a single place where jagaban referred to the party in the article. He kept on referring to progressive governance. What about rtd.general Abbey? Ex president too. He was instrumental to the amnesty during Yaradua's tenure
Oh, i know there's party interest The president comes from their party but...
Comrade Emeka: Gen. Abe was a minister under Yar'aduas regime. Don't forget. He was either defence or Niger delta Minister, I can't recall now.
Spirit Drunk: Baba, army Boss Swag ni Jare...gen. Abbey
Comrade Socrates: Truth be told, Tinubu's intervention in d ongoing industrial tussle has political undertone. It is an attempt to fetch cheap political point for APC.
To gain public sympathy for APC....
Shey na today dem just dey bobo Nigerians?
Comrade Seun Thomas: Is it actually a bad thing that they want to help the president actualize our goals by calming NLC?
Comrade Emeka: Besides as a retired General, you can be called from retirement to serve unless you were compulsorily retired
Comrade Seun Thomas: Okay, y'all gat good points though I just don't think it's wrong that the party should try to intervene in a peaceful manner
Hon Adewale: Not in this form
Comerade Emeka: Jagaban is not going there in his capacity as a former governor but as the APC leader. If he goes there as a concerned citizen there's nothing bad in that but as the case maybe he went there as an APC leader hence he went with other APC chieftains
Spirit Drunk: People wud definitely think he is trying to gain favour for APC ni jare even if not so baba oko mi
Comrade Seun Thomas: Okay, i see where you are coming from, appearances. Right?
