NIGERIA IS ABOUT TO FALL INTO THE ABYSS OF HISTORY BY KAZEEM OLALEKAN ISREAL
It is okay to let your children see you cry today for them to have a better tomorrow. The fear is real, the fear is real. But change is desired to fix the abnormality in the Nigerian union. Nigeria is about to fall into the abyss of history, we shall design our own house and live in it according to our architecture. While it will be unfair to blame the current leadership of the country for all the woes of the country, truth is, the present administration has proved incompetent and visionless as its predecessors in its fickle efforts to take the country out of the doldrums.
However, the planned strike action by the Nigeria Labour
Congress may not be in the collective interest of all Nigerians .
Okay let's embark on the strike and revert to earlier price of N87 and you don't find the product to buy. This was what Fashola did to us. We resented the high tariff, he reverted it and he has failed in supplying power to us. We are now paying for a service not rendered.
Even at N145 a litre , I have the fears that only NNPC can afford to sell.
Nigerians should brace up for the challenge ahead .
Truth be told , Nigeria is an homogenous income
dependent economy , with foreign earning of $550M and fuel importation requiring $225M , it is no longer feasibly possible for marketers to access hard currency for their importation .
The Central Bank of Nigeria do not have enough dollars to avail all the importers .
Rationing and hoarding has become the norm sincevthe oil crisis began.
To cut short the story, NLC should not play to the gallery with their demands , we must as a matter of
urgency call for a national economic summit to forestall the looming danger of economic hardship .
Venezuela is facing it despite having the worlds
largest reserve of oil, and the highest deposit of
bitumen.
It is no longer about what you have but how you are
able to convert what you have. It must however be noted that I am in support of the planned-protest. The government should revert it and then call for a national economic summit.
Meanwhile, the deafening silence of the Security Committee of OAUSU to release a statement on behalf of the generality of Great Ife Students whether to support the planned action or not is treacherous. We must collectively resist this with all within us. I expect a statement from the Security Committee follow by action. Never forget that action is nothing compared to reaction. Thank you and God bless!
