DANSABE MEDIA INSTITUTE LAUNCHES HER MAIDEN MAGAZINE

The Dansabe Media Institute, a platform set up by Mr Dansabe Kuni, a fresh graduate of the department of English language, Obafemi Awolowo University, launched her first magazine on Sarurday, October 5th, 2019 at the Auditorium 2, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife.
Dansabe Media Institute also known as DMI has the sole aim of reaching out to writers whose voice have not been heard and making them become better writers and also make their work known to the outside world.

The launching started with opening prayer led by Mrs Elizabeth, the president of Layette Enterprises Limited, followed by the recitation of the national anthem and Great Ife anthem.
The opening speech was anchored by Mrs Folasade Oshodi, the News head, Ray power FM, Oshogbo, she applauded Mr Dansabe, the founder of DMI, stating that  he has planted a seed that would grow and germinate and also, big things start small.

There was a short interlude in which a group of three male dancers entertained the audience with amazing dance moves.

The first session of the launching was anchored by Mrs Folasade Oshodi, the News head, Ray power FM, Oshogbo, she spoke on the inexhaustible synergy between broadcast media and writing, she defined synergy as a combination of two things, in this case, broadcasting and writing, she spoke about the fact that the two cannot be separated and people need the broadcast media to read out to them what has been written down, she stressed on the fact that one would encounter challenges especially with finance, she said the most important thing in broadcasting is the passion one has for it and a man without passion in broadcasting would fall out when he experiences little challenge, she spoke about how passionate for the job has taken her far in the profession. She also said writing makes us learn, it makes information permanent, it helps our ability to explain our thoughts graphically, helps us put our ideas to others, preserve our thoughts and history.
The keynote address was anchored by Hon Tunde Olatunji, Hon house of Assembly, Ife North Constituency, he endorsed the good work from Mr Dansabe, for the magazine, he said people give excuse because there's no purpose, he said people should be willing to make sacrifices to make themselves and the nation better, he said students are fond of complaining at all times about the poor state of the school, but that the same school (OAU), has produced several business owners such as Jobberman.

He said people should make sacrifices and be ready to be different and distinct with the example of Joseph in the Bible who was perfect in all he did that made Potiphar commit all he had into his hands, he said hardwork made him become the prime minister in Egypt, he proceeded to talk about the challenge in education, he gave an example of how OAU and UI had 220 and 180 students in their first year respectively but today we have a large population and that's one challenge we have today, he said all we see around us should make us want to search purpose.

He ended his speech by saying self inspiration is the mother of all inspirations and that with everyone playing their role, we'll make the nation better.

 Launching of the magazine took place afterwards with the keynote speaker, Me Tunde Olatunji to launch, followed by other members on the high table.

The second session was by Ayo Bello, initiative for Girls Right and Women Development, a graduate of Sociology from Great Ife, she spoke on the concept of rape in the 21st century Africa.

She said rape is an abuse of power over someone else and rape can be of several types such as gang rape, rape from family member, rape from trafficking. she said most ladies have been assaulted once before age 18 and there's no justification for rape anf also that a woman dresses indecently is not a greenlight to rape. she further stated that we should see the change as a behavioural change and not as social change. She said in supporting a rape victim, we should calm ourselves first and make ourselves safe and we should be nice, rape is not the victim's fault.

  Also, a rape victim owes no one a convincing story and she can spoke when she's ready, no matter the years that has passed because it's not about the rapist but the victim.

 After the second session, the CEO of DMI, Mr Dansabe, gave a speech and appreciated all those who came. Notable persons in attendance include Igwe Collins, Excellent Badmus, Kolawole Abiodun Azeez and a host of several other great people in we the field of broadcasting.
